A minimum precondition for a universe to develop a straight-edged electric powered razor (such as the Gillette xxx) is that it should contain a group of creatures with removable hair, opposable thumbs and some visual sensibility. Our universe contains such a group in the form of the male human being.
I have no wish to enter into the debates involving Creationists, Darwinists and Intelligent Designists. All I can personally vouch for is that hirsute men came into being no later than 1932, when I first saw my father, but I am prepared to believe that it was before that. Sometime between, say, 4004 B.C. and several billion years earlier chaps appeared who could handle tools, who could see and who had hair proliferating on their chops. At almost exactly the same time, women appeared.
